We interviewed at least 5 different contractors, all pushing different products. We chose Howard Air because of our salesman was by far the most knowledgeable about Trane systems and the installation process.  It was a very pleasant experience dealing with this company.  Installers were polite, friendly and clean.  All work was completed when they said it would be.  We chose the Trane product because of it only has a 1% failure rate, its reputation and most of all because it is made here in the United States.  We decided to upgrade to the 16 seer.  We would definitely refer Howard Air!

We have had our unit serviced twice a year.  When we had our regular spring maintenance performed, we were having no trouble with our air conditioning system.  We had to change companies, because the company that we have always used was trying to rip us off, by telling us we needed a new compressor, etc… over $900 worth of work.  I decided to have someone else verify this was needed and the company (Howard Air) that I called was terrific.  They said I did not need the work.  They just did some repairs and everything is working beautifully.  I will never go back to our previous contractor.

I just wanted to say thanks and let you know what a great job your guys did yesterday installing the new unit.  Joe was very impressed with the professionalism and expertise and care in installing the unit.  It sounds like they had to do a lot of “fixing” since the condo is almost 30 years old and I’m sure a lot of the original work was on the cheap! 

And, I must say, when I turned on the heat this morning it was warm in only a few minutes!

Dave:

Yes, everything is up and running.  I was not home for the install, but John said that Danny and David were great.  They told him everything they were doing each step of the install.  They explained why they were doing things a certain way with moving the unit a few feet and that right angle duct.  David showed us the video at the end so we could see how it looked on the roof.  John was up on the roof at the onset so he saw how they were going to place the unit.

We’ll be going up on the roof this weekend just to look things over.  We will recommend you and Howard Air to anyone we know who needs a new a/c.  We’ve been impressed from the start and know that you will stand behind the product and service.  We were fortunate to have called Howard Air for this project.

You can tell Kevin Howard that he runs a great business, very professional, clean (which we women appreciate) and really nice people.

Hello, Howard Air

APS has just lowered my monthly Equalizer payment from $198 to $122. I attribute this good news to the following:

• New Trane heat pump
• Other new energy-saving appliances
• Changing 43 light bulbs throughout the house to CFL bulbs
• Installing new sun screens
• Installing tinted film on east-facing windows

Let’s face it, without the Trane in place my bill wouldn’t have dropped so low. I did leave the thermostat at your recommended settings for the cold months, and that has worked out very well. My most recent APS bill showed I’ve overpaid APS a total of $365 since moving into this house, so the $76/month reduction in electricity costs means the heat pump is already paying for itself.

Dear Mr. Howard,                                                                                                                   August 25, 2010

August 16th, 2010 about 11:30am I came home from a trip to find my A/C unit not working.  I immediately called Howard Air and spoke to Theresa.  Theresa had David out in less than 2 hours to evaluate my unit.  David has done maintenance on my unit in the past under semi-annual agreement.  David did all he could to get my unit working.  He was very thorough and explained everything, as he has done in the past.  Unfortunately, it wasn’t going to be a quick or easy fix.  David provided me with a repair estimate.  It was going to be an expensive repair on a 13 year old unit.  He suggested I weigh my options and get information regarding a new unit.  David had Tracy call me immediately to set an appointment with Matt. 

Tracy was genuinely concerned about me and my dogs spending the night without A/C.  She offered me lodging options.  When I declined those options, she gave me her cell phone number should I change my mind later that evening.  I had one other problem.  My only day off was the next day, August 17th.  I was going to be out of town from the 18th to the 31st, only home every other afternoon or evening.  Tracy checked with Rocky, and said, should I decide on a new unit, they could get it done on the 17th

By 4:30pm Matt was here and provided me with a proposal to replace my American Standard to a Trane system.  He provided me information on several Trane units.  He explained each unit in understandable terms.  He was professional, polite and friendly.  He provided me with a fair price.  I felt I could trust him and Howard Air.  This was important, as I had no time to shop prices. 

As promised on August 17th, the installation crew arrived bright and early.  They worked straight through until my new unit was up and running.  They all did a great job explaining the system, checking the vents and most importantly installing the new unit.  They were all polite, professional and knowledgeable, as well as careful with my house and landscaping.  In addition, they had everything ready for the crane company.  I was amazed that it took only 8 minutes for the removal of my old unit and placement of the new unit on my roof.  Kevin from the crane company did an excellent job.  I had a new, up and running system in about 26 hours after my initial phone call to Howard Air.  That’s impressive to me, as well as to others I have told.

Rocky did an excellent job of coordinating everything to accommodate me due to my work and time constraints.  He thoroughly explained the paperwork regarding APS rebate and the tax credit he would be sending out with Forrest, the installation manager. Forrest was here today, August 25th, to do the final inspection of the installation.  He too was prompt, professional and friendly.  He brought all the paperwork Rocky had promised.  After the inspection, Forrest agreed the installation crew did a great job, paying close attention to details and going that extra mile.  My new Trane is working well.  I’m pleased with my choice.

In closing, I realize this is a lengthy letter.  I appreciate your time in reading it.  I wanted to let you know, in detail that you have a great group of employees.  Each person I had contact with was outstanding in customer care and service.  In today’s world, that not norm.  I feel it important to report good things and a job well done.  Please extend my appreciation and thanks to all of them.  I look forward to an ongoing business relationship with Howard Air.

Overall – well. The technician was professional and very understanding of the cost involved. While the price for the motor seemed high, the Angie’s List discount brought it into what I believe was reasonable for the time and work involved.

I called Howard Air to repair / upgrade my 15 year old Trane HVAC system with a new evaporator coil as the old one was originally poorly installed by another company a long time ago and showed signs of imminent failure. They did an exemplary job exhibiting extreme professionalism and skill. Subsequent developments required major additional work each step being performed with extreme integrity and honesty, keeping me completely informed and NEVER trying to sell unneeded parts or services although the situation would have lent itself easily to that kind of thing. Ultimately, the job ultimately required 4 separate additional service calls and each technician was thoroughly skilled, well equipped, clean, professional and above all unfailingly honest, hard working, and dedicated to MY satisfaction and happiness with the job. As I type, my system is running perfectly and I have confidence in knowing that it was repaired by people who really care about customer satisfaction and doing an exemplary job. Everyone I dealt with from my original contact with Joe in sales, to each technician, and the dispatcher and phone attendants, represented the company in nothing but the best way. Sometimes, when you try to fix something, each attempt uncovers the next weak link in the system. Howard Air did everything they could have done to try and complete the job with a minimum of additional work, but they were thwarted at every turn by circumstances beyond their control. I am a skilled technical professional and understand the inner workings of a home AC system very well. I can thoroughly attest to the fact that Howard Air did all they could humanly do to minimize my inconvenience and still provide a reliably working efficient system. Even though I eventually had to spend more than I expected, I am confident that in every way I was given way more than I paid for. I would recommend Howard Air to anyone who needs HVAC work from the simplest repair to a complete system replacement. You might find a company that will undercut their price but I believe that you will NEVER find a company that can top their integrity, quality, and professionalism.

The AC broke during the night and we woke up very hot! Called Howard Air about 8:30am and Pat was here about 2:30. The repair took about 90 minutes including diagnostics, but we did not have to replace the unit and we already have cool air again at 5PM. If anything else goes wrong and we do need more work in the next 90 days, today’s cost will be taken into account. I could not have asked for better service

I chose them because I’d had a good experience with their service on my old system. Their bid was far more detailed and competitive and they gave me an additional discount because I was an existing customer. Installation took most of a day. They set it up and showed me how everything worked. I was pleased, but they had just gotten started. A supervisor came out about 10 days later and did a detailed review of the work. He then scheduled another installer to come in to “tweak” the installation to be sure it all worked at peak efficiency. They processed the APS paperwork for the rebate and gave me the forms to use for the tax credits. I could not be more pleased with the new system.

Annual cooling inspection booked and followed up by the office scheduler at the Howard Air office. Each task was handled individually by very well trained technicians. Our overall experience with Howard Air was outstanding. Everyone we worked with was courteous and very professional. In the future, we plan to use Howard Air for all our heating and cooling needs.

They came out and replaced my thermostat. I had purchased one for gas heat and needed one that was for electric heat. They replaced it and they also did my annual service. They are very accommodating to your schedule. They took their time to show me how to do the installation. The guy put some booties over his shoes and that was a nice touch. I had a little problem and he came back within the hour. They were very polite and I have referred them to a friend.

I invited quotes from three Phoenix metro area HVAC firms. One was a firm I have done business with in the past. Oddly enough, given the recession, they never followed up. The second was one of the largest HVAC firms in this area. The third was Howard Air. I received a bid from the second and third firms, the pricing was comparable and, hence, not a determining factor in my selection process. I was more interested in quality of service and customer-friendly business philosophy than price. The salesmen for both companies that bid were excellent, although I would have to say that Matt Callahan from Howard Air had the edge due to his warm, thoughtful approach to the business and inherent trustworthiness. I checked out all three companies with BBB and Angie’s List. All three had A+ ratings at BBB, which means that they had resolved all customer complaints received at BBB in the past 36 months, BUT, while two of them had a lot of complaints, Howard Air had none – zero! – submitted to BBB. That means that Howard Air either did everything right the first time or, if not, then made things right with their customers without forcing them to resort to a third party for dispute resolution. When I thought of all the time and agony that the other firms put their customers thru by not fixing complaints on their own, I saw a huge plus in doing business with Howard Air. The reports on Angie’s list told a much truer story on customer satisfaction than BBB.. Howard Air has a perfect rating of all A’s by almost a hundred customers, while the other firms only rated B’s! Thank you, Angie! The installation was completed on time as promised, the removal of the old equipment and the clean-up afterwards were all done to delight the customer. Ten days after the installation, Forrest, the chief technical person at Howard Air, came out with Matt to inspect and sign off on the installation. Everything was done perfectly, and I could not be happier with my decision to use this company.

Howard Air was called Wednesday and work was scheduled for next day. I wanted their inspection and written quote on my rooftop heat pump. The gentleman who performed the inspection, Patrick Nelson, was so very kind in arriving early, performing the service and then explaining what he diagnosed. His recommended service was quite extraordinary in the respect of what is needed and the pricing. I used a different widely known AC company for the same inspection a week ago and their estimate was 3 times that of Howard Air. I am very impressed with Howard Air. Overall the job was done to perfection. The pricing and quality of work by Howard Air is a rarity in Arizona for Air Conditioning.
